Delhi Shocker: 52 year old rapes minor, dumps her body in a canal
In a horrifying incident in Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar, a 52-year-old man, who was the landlord of a nine-year-old girl, allegedly abducted, raped, and killed her. The accused, after committing the crime, dumped the girl’s body in Munak Canal. A search operation, involving six divers, was initiated by the police to recover the victim’s body.
The incident occurred on December 12, when the accused lured the girl with a car ride while she was playing outside her residence. Investigators revealed that the man took her to an isolated area, where he allegedly raped her before strangling her to conceal the crime.
The accused, who resided in the same locality, was identified through CCTV footage. Following his involvement in a scooter accident on December 15, the police, upon his recovery, obtained a confession during interrogation on December 17.
The victim’s parents, factory laborers residing in rented accommodation, have demanded capital punishment for the accused. Local residents and family members protested in the area, demanding justice. An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken suo-motu cognizance of the case, issuing a notice to the SHO of Swaroop Nagar police station for details of the FIR and the accused’s arrest.
